Do Good to Feel Good- Support Important Causes While Making Friends

Volunteering is a selfless way to make a difference in your community. It’s also a great way to socialize. Doing good things for others gives you a sense of purpose and a knowing that you are doing your part to help important causes makes you feel good.

We’ve spent a lot of time talking about finding a tribe. There’s plenty of ways to find them and connecting with like-minded people always feels great. Doing good in your community as a volunteer or in other ways is a great way to meet new people who have the same heart or social conscience that you have. It’s a perfect foundation for a great social life. Here are some wonderful ways to do good and feel good while making new friends.

  • Volunteer
  • Participate in a fund-raiser
  • Host a community event

Volunteer – Giving up your time to help an organization is a wonderful way to give back. Offering your time and your resources makes a big difference for the organization you are helping. It’s also a great way to make friends. The more you volunteer, the more opportunity you have to engage the community and fellow volunteers. Bonding over a cause you are passionate about is fun.

Fund raise – There are a lot of ways to participate in fund raisers that build community. From walk-a-thons, to annual events that support local causes, getting in the thick of things can help raise money, raise awareness, and raise your socialization game. Recruit others to fund raise with you and make it a social event to look forward to.

Host an event – Whether you host a clean-up day at the park or gather people to cover graffiti, there is always a reason to get people together and do good for your community. You can even host an event online if there is a cause you are passionate about. The key is to take the lead and do good, feel good, and support important causes.

There’s nothing wrong with socializing over a common cause. It’s fun to do something great for a cause you believe in and mix-n-mingle all the while. Having a cause in common is a great tie between friends. From participating in an annual event with favorite people you see once per year, to volunteering each week with community members you’ve grown to love, being social while serving is a wonderful thing.
